Energy Star
ENERGY STAR® is the international symbol of premium energy efficiency. All Valecraft homes have the option of being built with ENERGY STAR standards and include the following upgrades:
Heating/Ventilation
- High efficient gas furnace with a 93% annual fuel utilization (AFUE)
- Heat recovery ventilation system interconnected to furnace duct work
- All supply and return duct work is sealed
- 50 gallon hot water tank with an energy factor of 0.58 (rental)
- Direct vented gas fireplace
Windows & Doors
- Low-e argon for all ground floor and second floor windows and doors
- Insulated steel entry doors where applicable as per plan
Insulation
- R-50 Ceiling attic blown insulation
- R-32 Ceiling batt insulation for all cathedral or sloped ceilings
- R-22 Exterior wall batt insulation
- R-20 Insulation for basement exterior frost walls (insulation terminates 12” above concrete slab)
- R-32 Fiberglass batt insulation at all exposed floors
- Air leakage test using a blower door test to ensure the requirements of the ENERGY STAR program are met or exceeded
Electrical
- Minimum of 20 CFL (compact florescent light bulbs)
- Airtight electrical boxes in all exterior walls
- Airtight light outlets and pot lights in all exterior ceilings (where applicable)
Home Inspection
Each ENERGY STAR home will be inspected and tested by a third party professional energy inspector. ENERGY STAR label will be affixed to the home as assurance that the home is compliant with the ENERGY STAR® program. Each home shall also receive an ENERGYGUIDE® label showing the estimated annual energy consumption of the home.
